Axoplasmic resistivity is difficult to measure. Several values have been reported by several investigators using different methods.

• Curtis, H. & K. S. Cole (1938) J. Gen. Physiol. 21:p 757 found values ranging from 1.5 to 9 times that of seawater, with an average of 4 times.
• Cole, K. S. & A. Hodgkin (1939) J. Gen. Physiol. 22:p 671-687 found a value of 1.4 times that of seawater.
• Cole, K. S. & J. W. Moore (1960b) J. Gen. Physiol. 43:p961 found a value of 1.2 times that of seawater.
