The CA3 cells have been published in Turner et al (Turner DA, Li XG, Pyapali GK, Ylinen A and Buzsaki G, J. Comp. Neurol. 356:580-594, 1995) and are identified individually in the paper. The cells are categorized into 6 categories based on their CA3 location (soma surface area values in parentheses in x103 um2 dimensions): CA3a: L10 (1.04), L48a (1.90), L60b (0.79), L64 (0.53) CA3b: L18 (1.79), L24b (3.13), L51 (1.08), L56a (1.05) CA3c: L16 (1.04), L22 (0.98), L71 (0.37), L82 (0.80) Zone 3 Hilar: L24a (0.95), L55b (0.82) Posterior/Ventral: L48b (1.49), L56b (3.46), L60a (1.44) CA2: L69 (0.64) The input resistances are given in the article but are quite low due to the large sharp electrodes used in the in vivo intracellular recording. Thus, estimated input resistance values are also given for each of the cells in the article, based on idealistic approximations for membrane values. The soma values were derived from separating out either the major apical dendrite to a point of 5.0 um size or the first apical branch point and are shown above in parentheses. The shrinkage corrections are detailed in the paper but vary according to the X, Y and Z dimensions: correction factors are 1.33 in the X and Y and 2.5 in the Z dimension. Full pictures of the cells are shown in the article for comparison.
