The following interneurons were recorded using whole cell patch clamp in the region just below dentate gyrus in brain slices and were stained with biocytin. Cells have both the axon and dendrites reconstructed. These cells were reported in Mott DD, Turner DA, Okazaki MM and Lewis DV, J. Neurosci. 17:3990-4005, 1997. In that article four main subgroups of cells are given and the cells have been divided in those anatomical subgroups based on their axonal arborization in the granule cell or molecular layer. The shrinkage was determined and correction factors of x=1.12, y=1.06 and Z=1.18 have been applied to each respective dimension. The four cell types are GCL (granule cell layer), OML (outer molecular layer), IML (inner molecular layer) and TML (total molecular layer), classified according to their axonal arborization distribution.
